Fillers are substances injected into the dermis of the skin to help provide volume and fullness to areas where natural aging causes volume loss or wrinkles. Common areas of treatment include the nasal labial folds (“parentheses” lines), “marionette” lines along the lower face and around the mouth, mid-face (cheeks). There are many options and each filler is slightly different in composition and thickness.
 
Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a naturally occurring substance in the skin that helps to promote moisture and some volume. HA fillers are used to restore volume and fullness that naturally occur with the aging process.  These fillers can also be used to enhance volume in the lips. There are a number of HA fillers on the market today and choosing the right filler for the client’s needs is part of the consult process.  When filled to correction, the dermal fillers give a soft, natural appearance and can last between 8-24 months.
 
Sculptra Aesthetic stimulates the skin’s natural collagen production to increase overall facial volume.  Unlike HA fillers, Sculptra Aesthetic is a poly-L-lactic aced based treatment.  Once injected, it begins working deep within the skin to stimulate collagen production, reinforcing the skin’s inner structure and restoring volume. Sculptra Aesthetic works subtly and gradually over time for results that last over 2 years.  Sculptra Aesthetic can also be used to help soften and smooth the crepey skin of the chest, upper arms and the knee area.
